To be the major technique in the B3G, MIMO technique is getting more and more attention. Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technique can enhance the capacity and improve the performance of the wireless communication system. The research has shown that the MIMO technology could provide spatial diversity and spatial multiplexing for wireless communication system.The signal detection and precoding technology are investigated in this thesis. The main contribution in this thesis is described as followed: First, Based on the technical background and the research situation of MIMO system, we learn the signal model of MIMO system and derive the channel capacity. Second, this paper describes the vertical layered space-time coding system model, introduced the zero forcing (ZF) detection algorithm and the minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection algorithm, and compares the performance of the two detection algorithms through the simulation; Finally, this paper makes some overview and simulation on the application of three precoding algorithms under the flat fading channel, which are linear preequalization, Tomlinson-Harashima preconding (THP) and Lattice reduction-aided (LLL) vector preconding. The simulation results prove that among the three precoding algorithms, LLL precoding strategy demonstrates the best BER performance.
