With the rapid development of marine commercial exploitation and marine military field in China, underwater wireless sensor networks become a new hotspot. They have a very wide range of applications in marine data collection, pollution monitoring, disaster prediction and underwater military defense. However, because the underwater acoustic channel is very complicated, including large delay, severe multipath effects and the Doppler frequency shift, it is a strong challenging task to design the underwater wireless sensor networks of high-reliability, high-throughput and low power consumption. The thesis combined the advantages of clustering networks and multihop networks to design the topology structure of the underwater wireless sensor network. Not only can it overcome the shortcomings of complex network routing algorithms and high energy consumption, but also can increase network capacity and communication efficiency. Then, through analyzing the model and statistical properties of underwater acoustic channel, MPSK and MFSK are used to transmit data between two nodes. Also, the thesis contrasted the data rates and SNR simulated by Matlab, and proposed a coding method of multipath suppression.Underwater sensor nodes were difficult to replace, so the energy-saving research of nodes was also very important. The thesis analyzed the energy consumption of different parts of sensor nodes, and discussed many energy-saving schemes. Finally the thesis proposed an energy optimization strategy which based on clustering algorithm, and verified superiority of the algorithm.
