Nowadays, science and technology are developing rapidly.in communication area, with wireless communication playing more and more important role,BWA technology which is important part of wireless communication, has extensive applied foreground and huge development potential.IEEE802.16 which is a kind of BWA technology is used in WMAN, it's used for solving "the last one kilometer" communication requirement. IEEE802.16 can provide BWA with more wide area and higher rate.Especially in the area where there is a lack of basic infrastructure, IEEE802.16 as one wireless access technology will be more flexible. Because IEEE802.16 has a lot of technical advantages, it has received much attention from people and it has become a research hot-spot.IEEE802.16 standard doesn't specify the bandwidth scheduling in detail, so it's a meaningful topic to discusses the MAC bandwidth scheduling. According to this, the paper mainly discusses the IEEE802.16 MAC protocol and analyzes MAC bandwidth scheduling architecture. In the paper, the protocol stack architecture of IEEE802.16 standard are elaborated firstly, especially the MAC layer. Then briefly introduced the implement of data plan in MS MAC layer protocol stack, and discussed various generic scheduling algorithm in wired and wireless network. Next the scheduling architecture of BS are analyzed and referenced. Based on previous research and with appropriate wireless packet scheduling algorithm, and then designing an efficient MAC bandwidth scheduling architecture. Finally a simulate-network was builded with NS2, and the simulation shows that the architecture can satisfy the QOS requirement of variable service, and test-script was writed in VC to test function of bandwidth scheduling module.
