With the rapid development and popularization of network technology, the current development of network has exceeded people's original goal of utilizing network. More and more computers are connected to each other LAN and Internet. However, we haven't made the most use of these computers on the net. On the contrary, with the development of IT, storage devices with small capacity can not meet individual and enterprises'requirements any more. Therefore, more and more researches are conducted on network-based storage system. The goal of these researches is of the same to provide a super-capacity storage space by using the nodes' space in the net.Reliability is a significant specification to evaluate such a kind of storage system. This paper focuses on the impact it may have on system when nodes disconnect from system unpredictably and presents a distributed storage system designed for dynamic network environment - Turtle, which offers disk-like interfaces for data access and provides a collection of network-connected nodes to save data. This paper describes the design of turtle, introduces the data accessing model and cache in turtle, and presents a random data placement policy based on store-forward. Finally, it analyzes the reliability and performance of turtle.
