A MANET(Mobile Ad hoc networks) is an autonomous non-infrastructurenetwork system of mobile hosts, which are connected with each other viawireless links. It can provide efficient services for data and multimediaapplications. However, as we know that the wireless system is a band-limitedsystem, so the channel allocation algorithm is very important. Improving theefficiency, capability and transmission quality of the wireless resource is thekey researchDirected antenna, improved MAC protocol and power control canimprove performance of Ad hoc network. But they can not solve bandwidthproblem completely. In addition, IEEE 802.11 and 802.15.4 supportmulti-channel.At first, researchers attempt to manage multi-channel resourceusing a single radio. With the development of hardware technology, it ispossible to use multi-radio in one node. Multi-radio multi-channel Ad hocnetwork is attraction in the future. The thesis is aimed to Multi-radio Ad hoc networks MAC and routeprotocol.A new MRMC (multi-radio multi-channel) Ad hoc networks MACprotocol is proposed in the thesis. It can work in existing 802.11 MACprotocol, reduce delay of switching channel, assign channel without timesynchronization and be compatible with physical equipment. The method ofchannel assignment in the MRMC Ad hoc networks MAC protocol canmaintain network connectivity, simplify channel assignment and reducecollision of channel assignment.A new MRMC Ad hoc networks route protocol is also proposed in thethesis. The route strategy in the MRMC Ad hoc networks route protocol takesaccount of link bandwidth, channel diversity, radio switching delay, channelinterference and the shortest hop count as route metric and can capture reallink quality of route selected.Lastly, simulation in NS2 shows that using MRMC technology canimprove performance of Ad hoc networks.
