Research On Multimedia Applications Oriented To Group Communication

Internet is the infrastructure of communication network, because of the advantage of facility, abundant services and low price."Everything over IP"expatiate the development tendence of communication network in the future incisively. The development and Convergence of the technologies including computer, network, communication and multimedia make computer network, telephone network and CATV network syncretize to be a compact one. Multimedia communication based on IP network will become the main mode of intercommunion in the 21st century.Multimedia communication can transmit audio, video, data and text in one call. The main characteristics are the large quantity of data, abundant modes and the absolute interaction. Group communication based on multicast can save network bandwidth largely and reduce Server's burden, so that it is fit for multimedia services and will become one of the most important support for IP network multimedia communication.In this paper, the condition of group communication and network multimedia communication were introduced firstly. Secondly the IP network structure and the main IP multicast routing protocols were analysed. A research on application layer multicast protocols was also made. In the analysis and research on secure group communication, based on studying and analyzing the main group communication key management scheme, an improved scheme were proposed, which can be adapted to many-to-many communication and has strict source authentication.
