LXI bus will be the trend of future testing system. The foreign companies are making effort to develop more LXI instruments. The research for structure building and implementation of LXI instrument is a critical problem relating to whether the LXI has the application prospect. Currently, the study of LXI instrument structure building is still at the primary phase, and do not come to the level of GPIB, VXI and PXI. Therefore, LXI instrument should be constantly researched and developed at the same time that the techniques of structure building of LXI instrument should be emphasized. So they can be developed synchronously. LXI instrument system that is the topic of this paper has promising prospect and competence. It can satisfy with research, manufacture, military use, and so on.The relevant techniques of LXI bus are studied and the application of LXI instrument system is proposed. Based on the available resource, a feasible method of structure building of LXI instrument system is proposed. The working flow of LXI instrument system and its character is fully introduced. With the thorough research for the structure building of LXI instrument system, it still has some technical problem to solve. Six critical techniques of structure building of LXI instrument system are proposed, which include network technique of LXI instrument system, the communication and reliability of systems, the IEEE1588 PTP protocol, the instrument triggering, the IVI-COM driver, the SCPI command interpreter. Each of these techniques is analyzed, and solutions for the IEEE1588 PTP protocol, the IVI-COM driver, the SCPI command interpreter are proposed. By analyzing the specification of LXI web interface, we develop a web interface suitable for the LXI instrument system. DHCP, which is used most widely in LXI instrument system and has the highest priority in the IP configuration protocol, is realized. The working flow of LXI instrument system is firstly proposed. Four solutions for the real-time requirement and reliability of LXI instrument system communication are proposed.
