Bistatic SAR is the synthetic aperture radar whose transmitter and receiver are located on separated platforms. It can acquire non-backscatter information from target zone, and the quiet passive receiver is more difficult to be detected and jammed compared to monostatic SAR. Bistatic SAR is becoming one of the hotspots in radar imaging technology in recent years. The geometry and echoed signal models of bistatic SAR in general fight configuration are introduced. Two-dimensional matched filtering principle is examined and theoretical relationship between resolution and bistatic SAR system parameters is suggested. The properties of Doppler are analyzed. Because the imaging algorithm of Bistatic SAR is related to the geometry models, the dissertation gives paticularly empathies on bistatic SAR model in the broadside side-looking and stripmap. The imaging algorithm of bistatic SAR is discussed. The theory of Chirp Scaling algorithm is studied. The simulation results show that this algorithm can perform two-dimentional match filtering accurately without any interpolation in this bistatic system and thus can obtain well-focused SAR image, so it is suitable for real-time processing of signal.A reformed bistatic SAR Chirp Scaling imaging algorithm is deduced based on the tandem configuration. The algorithm is adaptable to the bistatic SAR constellation in which the transmitter and receiver have different velocity while in parallel orbit, and it can realize range migration compensation easily. For the bistatic SAR tandem constellation, the imaging result remains satisfactory when the sideway angle is large.
