In the light of optical disc driver's current development towards high steadiness, high density and better performance, it is to promote the products competitiveness. In view of optical driver's comparative high price and lack of competitiveness, this paper proposes that we must reduce the production cost to promote the competitiveness while cutting down the use of consuming oil is one way of cost down.The current optical drivers' consuming oil has the problem below: 1) large volume of usage & high unit price. For companies like Asus and BenQ, consuming oil costs more than 3 million RMB every year. 2) There is no standardized experiment process to select suitable oil quickly. 3) Traditionally, only RD in Taipei will think about cost down and it is almost impossible for factory people to reduce cost from the aspect of design.Considering the issue above and with the assurance of optical driver's performance, this paper put forwards to establish a plan to select suitable lubricating oil with the use of Six Sigma DAIC and target cost management and the condition of function limitation of lubricating oil to ODD (Optical Disc Driver). This plan will enable the factory people to use a scientific way to select oil and further promote cost downThis paper verified the feasibility of the selection plan for optical driver lubricating oil, standardized the relevant experiment process, which will shorten the selecting time, reduce cost, promote product's competitiveness and is a reference case for other optical driver products and oil selection when replacing optical driver's mechanical parts.
