The technology of high-power fiber coupling LD, which serves as its key technique, gets an extensive concern from people. The thesis mainly did research and analysis on the methods of coupling laser beam from high power semiconductor laser diode into fiber. Aiming at different coupling methods, lots of researches have been done.A novel technique that a broad-area diode laser is directly coupled to a cylindrical lensed multimode fiber is presented to improve the fiber coupling efficiency and alignment tolerance. According to the high-power LDs' characteristics,the parameters of the novel lensed fiber such as wedge angle of the lensed fiber,the radius of cylindrical end face and the working distance are optimized and simulated.With ray-tracing technology, the theoretical simulation is processing. The coupling efficiency can reach as high as 99% with optimizing parameters of the cylindrical lensed multimode fiber in theoretical simulation. The alignment tolerances for ray trace directions are also calculated. In the experiment, the coupling efficiency can reach 87.05%.
