With the development of informationization, information integration becomes an urgent requirement. Usually, the requirement of information integration is due to some global demands, which requires data integration of distributed, heterogenerous and autonomous information syatems using universal application framework. In addition, it should think of user's requirement about information mining and machining. XML data warehouse is new data warehouse based on XML. It is important method to resolve heterogeneous database integration.This paper researched with XML data warehouse, especially deeply discussed with view model and storage mode. This paper improved view model of XML data warehouse, proposed a new view model which contains three levels of data structure, that is, pattern, subarea and view, then defined each data structure of new view model using XML Schema. The improved view model completely records the whole process of data distilling and integration. Aiming at the new view model, this paper proposed corresponding stroage mode, mainly about the storage of XML data and data warehouse module. The storage of XML data follows the means about separate storage of data and structure, this makes it reforming data structure without data modification, reduces data redundancy, improves the efficiency of query and update. The storage mode of data warehouse module satisfies the storage requirement of view model, and efficiently conserves the source of data in patterns, subareas and views. Based on the improved view model and improved storage mechanism, this paper proposed the solution and relevant algorithms to the incremental maintenance of XML data warehouse. Using the source information of every tuple that stored in all levels of data model, it transfers the update of data source to correlative patterns, subareas and views, thereby achieves the incremental maintenance.In the end, XML data warehouse was applied to the integrated exercise system. Modularized framework of integrated exercise system was designed. XML data warehouse based on exercise was designed and achieved. Several kinds of patterns, subareas and views was created. Finally, heterogeneous data integration based on XML data warehouse was actualized.
