The evolution of UMTS is behaving in two aspects. First, use high speed air interface in WCDMA, CDMA2000 and HSDPA WCDMA in access network. Second, UMTS core network will use all IP packet softswitch technology. Thus introduces the development of IP multimedia application into IP multimedia domain. That is to say: Use IMS to implement the ultimate goal of all IP, multi-service mobile core network.IMS has considered Qos and security in IP network at the beginning of its design. IMS inherits all the strong points of current softswitch technology. This paper provides the detailed explanation of the characteristic of IMS and studies contain of IMS specification and its evolution trend. This paper introduces the architecture of IMS network system, the outlines of each components and their collaboration, communication protocol, network elements interface and signal processing. IMS is the junction point of softswitch core network in telecommunication and NGN technology. Based on the introduction of IMS network, we discusses the concept of IMS, traditional softswitch and NGN, compare their difference and relationship.In the trigger and management of user profile, IMS system is embodied with the concept of integration. There is no unified specification with the access of application servers. If the number of AS increases, it may cause the chaos of management. The management of user profile data in IMS system are maintained and triggered by S-CSCF. S-CSCF is in the center of IMS session manager. This paper will focus on S-CSCF. S-CSCF is in charge for storing the subscriber's individual service data, and trigger different user services with the diverse request from subscriber. This paper explains the user profile data interface between S-CSCF and HSS. This paper discusses the user profile UML model. And analysis the application server triggers model of S-CSCF and the realization of S-CSCF.In order to enhance the maintenance, restore and process efficiency of S-CSCF. This article developed special mechanism to internal realization of S-CSCF data model. Optimize the system management of iFC and SPT data. According to the optional interface provided by 3GPP Release 6, this article presents blue print, which can reduce network usage. At last, this paper integrates both of the realization to provide a complete resolving of user profile management, which can provide optimization on S-CSCF memory resource, network bandwidth and process complexity. And give and very high efficiency plan to the realization of S-CSCF. After the compare to different solutions, this paper discusses and improves the Cx interface of 3GPP PPR/PPA message in sharing environment.Testing is an important symbol to prove the rightness, robust and mature of telecommunication core network equipment. At the end of this article, this paper will introduce the testing model of IMS system and relative design.This article will provide reference value to the researcher of IMS interface specification and engineer working on IMS system.
