As the rapid development of the computer network and multimedia technology, Video-on-Demand combined with technology of computer network and multimedia also get the violent development. The VoD system has higher applied value and extremely broad prospects for development. At present the media quality cannot be satisfied, however, the reason is that design of internet is mainly meeting the requirement of end-to-end system.The traditional transmission mode based on the unicast is easy to cause the server performance bottleneck which cannot effectively support the distribution of large-scale data.Now most of VoD systems are providing services through single server architecture. In this kind of architecture the server's service capability become the bottleneck of system .With quantity of user .bandwidth of system and length of videos increasing ,it is very expensive to increase bandwidth of system and enhance server's performance. Many VoD systems based on the internet are inclined to use the P2P architecture to provide the service in which the participant nodes not only receive video service from server and other participant nodes also take on the partial server's responsibility to provide the content of video to other participant nodes. In the VoD system based on P2P each node contributes their storage resources and bandwidth ,which change the situation that is simply increasing the burden of server with the user increasing.In this paper we propose a new video-on-demand system based on P2P called PTPVoD and accomplish the PTPVoD system basing on the deep research in the key technology of video-on-demand .The PTPVoD integrated the advantages of P2P and proxy get a great enhancement in system's expansibility. The main research content of this paper includes:1) Unified the technology of P2P and proxy which make the system have both good static expansibility and good dynamic expansibility.2) Doing the abstract in the framework of VoD system based on P2P and putting forward the model of layered system which encapsulate the different function in different layer.The layered structure makes the PTPVoD system have good structure and expansibility.3) In this system the Web server is deployed and users can receive the service through the browser so that the PTPVoD combined the merit both the B/S structure and the C/S structure.4) I proposed the arithmetic of Least backup data first buffer.The core thought is to select the data which are least backup in every broadcast group to buffer.The arithmetic makes the distributing of buffer data more equal.Thus it increases the probability of getting data from neighbor points.
