Airborne Light Detect and Ranging, is a kind of active geometric acquisition system that equipped in a fly. It has the all-day working, shortly production cycle and high precision characteristics. It has been used for more than ten years, but in China it is less than ten years. The data processing software is behind the hardware. The reason is that there is not a common algorithm that could be used in complex terrain. In this article I analyst the characteristics of LDIAR data, and how to organize the data, and then analyst the main filter algorithms, at last I improve the a slope-based filter algorithm. The main content in this article include:Discuss the LIDAR's principle,LIDAR system and compare the main LIDAR productions.Analyst the LIDAR data's characteristics, how to organize the data and the LIDAR's standard format. The LIDAR data is multi-return, dispersed and very huge, so we usually organize it in gird, TIN, profile and voxels. I discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the organization styles.Summarize the filter algorithms. The method of filtering usually are slope-based, surface-based and segmentation-based. In this study, I implement the data filtering use the method of an improved Vosselman's slope-based algorithm. The first step of data processing is to separate object from ground. The research content in this article may be helpful for it.
