With the rapid development of 3D scanning technology, mesh processing has become one of the hottest topics in geometry modeling as well as computer graphics and its research results have been widely applied into a great deal of areas, such as mechanical manufacture, movie entertainment, game technology and so on. As the core technology of mesh processing, mesh editing aims at the effective construction of complex geometry models with intuitive and high-efficiency editing approach. There is some fault in the method that is proposed before, such as its user interaction is not flexible, its no-easy-to-control editing style. Motivated by this, an active edit method based on wavelet-based multi-resolution analysis is proposed in this thesis. Firstly, by the means of wavelet-based multi-resolution analysis, we simplify the complex meshes into different resolution ones that are needed, based on the geometry and connectivity of the processed meshes, we can also optimize the triangle meshes, make them more similar, and then improve the algorithm; Secondly, through the algorithm of Dijkstra shortest path and width firstly traversal, we get the sub-meshes that need to be edited; Finally, based the method of 3D graphics'geometry transform, we make interactive edit on the target sub-meshes, such as scaling, rotation, tapering, twisting and so on, then combine them into the whole mesh, and refine them back to the resolution level that are needed.Experimental results demonstrate that our method provides intuitive, powerful and fast operations. For both global and local mesh editing, it can acquire controllable, reliable edit result, and it can be seamlessly integrated into current animation and modeling systems.
