With the development of computer technology and computer graphics,medical imaging technology has a great improvement. To let the doctorsknow about the detailed information about patient's body more directly andcomprehensively, the development of medical 3-D image reconstructiontechnology has become more and more important.There're two main method in 3D image reconstruction, one is surfacerendering, the other is volume rendering. Since surface rendering cannotreserve the information of the image inside data, while volume renderingcan reserve rich message of the image data, and can show the internalrelationship of the organizations. But the fatal shortcoming of the volumerendering is that the quantity of the data is enormous, so the speed of thecalculation is very slow. So improve the quality and speed of rendering isthe focus of the thesis.First, we use window width and window position, smooth etc.pre-process techniques to process the 2D images, so the quality of theimages become better. Then segment the images to extract the ROI, andconvert the images in geometry. After study several volume renderingalgorithms and analyze the effect. Then focus on the Ray Casting Algorithm,put forward a rapid volume rendering algorithm based on the relation theoryof the images. At last, realize the 3D reconstruction with VTK, the result ofthe experiment show that the speed of rendering is improved.
