The Target Movement Simulator (TMS) is a typical dynamical system with parameter- variety and uncertainty, and which plays an important part in hardware-in-loop (HIL) simulation of control and guiding system.In this paper, the WH26B TMS is studied and the application of adaptive control in TMS is investigated. Firstly, the elements of the TMS and common control strategy are described, and the mathematical modeling of the TMS system is established. Secondly, model reference adaptive control is presented and applied to the WH26B system successfully, the simulation demonstrate that the model reference adaptive control method can broaden the WH26B system frequency strap. Because of the demands of engineering, the hybrid adaptive control method is described and applied to the system, and the simulation proves that the control strategy can enhance the performance of the system. Finally, the unmodeling uncertainty of the TMS system is considered and dynamics hybrid adaptive control is used to the system. Furthermore, the simulation and experimental results confirm the validity of the controller.
