It's well-known that MUAVs (Mini Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) havecomprehensive applications in military and civilian. Up till now, many institutes andorganizations have been interested in the research of the MUAV. A real-time waterdetection of rivers, lakes, ponds and analogues is of great importance for a MUAVwhich needs to execute autonomous flexible flight, search and rescue, agriculturalresource examination, Simultaneous Localization and Mapping or other missions.However, it is difficult to achieve the water detection tasks because of the limit ofthe platform and the variable environment.According to MUAV's own speciality and based on the research before, anintegrated water detection system is established. At first, the paper focuses on thehardware structure of the water detection system and the selection of the functionalmodules. Then, the author describes the water detection algorithm based onmulti-feature extraction and data fusion and also the realization procedure of thealgorithm above. At last, the results of the water detection tests on Raptor 90 MUAVshow the system's practicability.In conclusion, research proves that the water detection system described abovecompared with the general ones has advantages in small size, low cost, highflexibility and etc. The system is of great practical value.
