Computer-aided drafting (CAD) is an electronic tool that enables you to make quick and accurate drawings with the use of a computer. CAD drawings convey information of design visualized, precisely, and conveniently. CAD software is available for generic design or specialized uses, such as architectural, electrical and mechanical. CAD software may also be highly specialized for creating products such as printed circuits and integrated circuits. More and more professionals are taking advantage of CAD.There are usually a lot of models of products to meet the needs of various demanding. These models belong to the same category of products. They have just the same type of topological structure. The new model of a category of product inherits the space structure, but they are probably different in size, ratio, and technical requirements, etc. Usually, the drawings of the new model can be got by modifying the existed drawings of the same category of products, but it is very tedious and repetitive work. It is fallible and has low productivity.Drawings include not only graphic elements such as lines, circles, and arcs but also non-graphic elements such as dimensions, the information in title box. They all include text elements. It is just the non-graphic elements, text information, that make drawings have unambiguous meaning. They play key roles in the transmission of design information.The graphic elements in a drawing for a same category can be reused because the object's space structures of a same category are consistent. If the texts in the non-graphic elements, which play key roles in drawings, can be inputted as a drawing's parameters and a drawing can be "drafted" according to the parameters, then the creation of drawings can be detached from the graph-creating mechanism of CAD software. And thereby an automation system of drawing creation can be set.We design an automation system of drawing creation, whose essential function can be depicted by diagram below, in this thesis. So long as the parameters are inputted, a drawing can be created. Individuals need not to draft the drawing with CAD software. The history data inputted are stored in database and can be managed easily. This assists the individual to be more productive. It is especially valuable for the enterprises that have many models of each category of products.
