With Internet development at full speed, the data amount of communication is more and more big,and need more capacities and higher speed request. Photon crystal is one kind of new manpower optical material with a lot of strange characteristic property developing out over the past few years,and has brought about new development opportunity to fibre-optical communication. Wavelength division multiplexing with photonic crystal has the advantage of PC and WDM,so it has a very vast application prospect. It has pragmatic meaning for us to study the basis research of photon crystal applied to WDM optical communication system.In my former half part thesis, We firstly introduce the fundamental concept and main features of photonic crystal, and descript the relative manufacturing method of photonic crystal ,and also describe the PCFs simply which is one of the main appliances of photonic crystal; secondly the concept of WDM technique and its main features is introduced ,and describe its principle,main features,practice plan and the present situation of research. We also introduce two main research method used.In the latter half part, we studied the transmission properties of optics in one-dimension photonic band gap structure, namely, different defects are introduced into the the fundamental period of one-dimension photonic crystal, we can observes the transmission spectrum of the light pulse in the layered PCFs;then we studied the transmission of light pulse when nanometer defects is introduced into the two-dimensional photonic crystal, so we can make some viability assessments from the appliance of the two-dimensional photonic crystal to WDM optical communication .At last, this text also enumerated some projects that more mature photonic crystal is used in WDM optical communication.
