Spatial light modulator (SLM) is an apparatus to modulate the distribution of light-wave. It is widely used in many domains, more important, it is a core apparatus in processing optical information. Pockels readout optical modulator(PROM) is a kind of optically addressable spatial light modulators(OSLMs), it works for the Pockels effect of electro-optic crystals, many research organization are doing the research of PROMs with different electro-optic crystals in foreign countries. Among many electro-optic crystals, B12SiO20(BSO) is a good choice for its nicer characters. The SLM which is made of BSO has strong resistibility for terrible condition such as high temperature, quake and so on, it also has good prosperity such as real time work and small volume. When we use BSO OSLMs as display component of optical computing system, the speed and precision of target identification improve greatly.Combining with the research of "985 High Performance Computing", in this paper, we measured the modulation transfer function of BSO OSLMs, and then primarily discussed its application in the respect of target identification. At first, a high voltage control system was designed and realized according to the need and the characteristic when BSO OSLMs worked. After this, symmetry and asymmetry Spatial Light Modulator were studied, and concluded that the structure of asymmetry SLM is simple, and it works with lower voltage, wipes more quickly. Then we discussed the theory of modulation transfer function (MTF) and the method of measurement, afterwards we measured the MTF of asymmetry BSO OSLMs and draw believable conclution. In the end of the paper, Vander Lugt correlator and Joint transform correlator contained BSO OSLMs were presented.
