This paper constructed a hardware framework for eye gaze tracking system, and developed the relevant software system, based on the technology of combining corneal reflection and pupil center. The eye gaze tracking system presented in the paper can provide the user's fixation information and the region of interest in real time. The analysis of the data collected from experiments showed that the error of the eye gaze tracking system was founded to be approximately 0.9585°when user's head keeps still and the calibration error was approximately 9.5871mm when user's head moves freely. Moreover, the system cost low, and solved preferably the problem of head's movements depending on an electromagnetic position tracker and the position-tracking algorithm using 4 coplanar markers.In order to satisfy the requirements of interaction between users and augmented reality maintenance guiding system, the paper provided user a method of interaction with straight , natural and bi-directional features by integrating techniques of the eye gaze tracking system and the augmented reality. This research has settled the foundation for developing the augmented reality maintenance guiding system, and enriched the application of the eye gaze tracking technology.This thesis achieved the following findings:1.The hardware of framework for eye gaze tracking system①Having constructed an eye gaze tracking hardware framework when user's head keeps still, based on the principle of corneal reflection and pupil center technology.②Having proposed two pieces of eye gaze tracking hardware permitting user's head to move freely, by adding an electromagnetic position tracker and the position tracking algorithm using 4 coplanar markers.③Having presented an integrating scheme of the eye gaze tracking system and an augmented reality system, and having pointed out a method to reduce the whole bulk of the hardware.2.The software package for the eye gaze tracking system①Based on the OpenCV open source computer vision library, having built an eye gaze tracking system when user's head keeps still, by implementing the Starbursts algorithm.②Having developed the software of the eye gaze tracking system permitting user's head to move freely.
