Modal analysis has been a theory system with its own special characteristics after absorbing the interrelated theories, such as signal analysis, date processing, probability & statistic and auto control theory. Many modal parameter identification approaches have been proposed by the cooperative effort of domestic and overseas scholars in the latest decades. Some classical modal parameter identification methods have been developed and integrated in some commercial software. Its applications have been widely applied in lots of actual engineering structures.First, this dissertation detailed introduces a lot of modal parameter identification approaches from time domain to frequency domain and from experimental modal analysis to operational modal analysis methods. Then, many modules on the modal analysis have been completed using Matlab tool. These modules include digital signal creation, vibration signal pretreatment in time or frequency domain, modal parameter identification in time or frequency domain. Moreover, a modal analysis software skeleton about hybrid programming with LabVIEW and Matlab is designed to efficiently connect the user interface and computer kernel. Finally, numerical and experimental examples are studied.
