Informatization of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) nowadays is part ofChina's 11th Five-Year Plan as an important subject of basic medicine and healthinformatization process. TCM database construction is the foundation of TCMinformatization. Several TCM scientific data process platforms, which are developedby CCNT Lab, Zhejiang University and Institute of Information on TCM, ChinaAcademy of TCM, aimed to provide efficient approaches to constructing TCMdatabase for more than twenty universities or research institutes of TCM. Mainly, thisdissertation describes the work listed as below:Firstly, the author makes analysis on present TCM data process platforms basedon the software demand, points out problems faced by these platforms, and then,decides to develop DartAnnotation, which is an offline TCM data process platformbased on Semantic Annotation. In DartAnnotation, TCM ontology is used as thestandard metadata, and RDF is regarded as the medium data model. DartAnnotationprovides TCM experts to process data directly by making annotations on TCM datafiles, so that TCM data processing can be more efficient than usual. In addition,DartAnnotation is complement to the weakness of online data process platforms.Secondly, considering management demand of the present TCM data processplatforms, the author decides to develop TCMManager, which provides a uniformaccount management service and Single Sign-On service for these TCM data processplatforms. Besides, TCMManager contains project management module, whichprovides functions such as making assignment of data processing, evaluating thequantity and quality of TCM data. In addition, TCMManager provides DartAnnotatioinwith the function of uploading files.Overall, DartAnnotation provide an offline approach to process TCM data basedon TCM ontology, which is complement to the weakness of online data processplatforms. And then, with the combination of TCMManager, these TCM data processplatforms are reconstructed as a large platform.
