With rapid development of network technology, more and more work are stored andtransmitted in digital version. At the same time, the multimedia can be modified withoutleaving detectable traces. Authentication of the digital work has been one of the maintopics of information security. This paper presents a semi-fragile watermarking algorithmfor image authentication. Firstly, we make a survey of watermarking researching situation,basic theory framework, classification, main features and framework of the semi-fragilewatermarking. Secondly, the B-spline curve multi-resolution representation is describedin the paper. Generally the low-resolution of B-spline curves can withstand JPEGcompress. We discuss the affection of the relationship between the low-resolutions of acouple of B-spline curves under JPEG compressed. Finally, a semi-fragile watermarkingalgorithm for image authentication based on B-spline multi-resolution representation isproposed. The experimental results show that the algorithm can stand against JPEGcompression and holds preferable capacity of tampered area location and bettertransparency.
