Mobile Ad Hoc network is a collection of wireless mobile nodes forming a temporary computer communication network without the aid of any established infrastructure,and one of the challenges in designing this kind of network is the frangibility in withstanding the attacks of security.The group key management of mobile Ad Hoc network is facing a great challenge because of its acebtric,dynamic topology and realtime changed link.This paper introduced the foundational conception,features,security requirements and security threats of mobile Ad Hoe networks;provided a state-of-the-art view of security in Ad Hoc networks;then discussed the security aspects of key management in detail,including the threshold key management strategy and the hierarchical key management strategy.The main contributions of this paper included:1. As to the threshold key management strategy, the stochastic modeling techniques were used to determine the relationships of the security to the threshold and the renewal period of the shares, a scheme AATKMS(Auto-Adaptive Threshold Key Management Scheme)was put forward, so that the threshold and the renewal period of the shares could be optimized dynamically according to the network state.2. Based on the structure of the distributed binary logical key tree, a scheme HKMBNS(Hierarchy Key Management Based on Node-Stability) was produced in consideration of the leaving probablity of nodes. Furthermore, the thought of height-restricted tree was introduced to generalize the multi-demension key tree, so that the rekeying cost could be efficiently reduced.3. Based on HKMBNS, a new scheme HKMBNIP(Hierarchy Key Management Based on Node Integrated Performance) was provided. It consisdered the stability, remainder energy, degree of the nodes, and combined the location of the nodes in constructing the corresponding key tree. Analysis and simulation result indicated that the scheme could decrease the communication complexity of the network efficiently, and prolong the life time of the network.
