| The development of distance education is closely linked information technology development. Every grand breakthrough of information technology effectively promotes distance education a new step. The appearance of computer network technology makes it possible that the outstanding education resources are shared by more learners, and that has changed the communion ways among learners and between learners and teachers. The students of the experimental unit of online education use BBS to ask teacher questions. But there are some problems of BBS-based communication, such as the platform and BBS is instable, the speed of login BBS is slow, lack of hardware, the feedback of teacher is not in time, the content of BBS overlap, lack of necessary skills for online interaction, the function of BBS is not well and so on. Mobile communication is the communication technology with the fastest developing speed in recent years. Mobile communication equipments (such as cell phones) are easy and flexible to use. With the constant reducing of the terminal hardware and communication expenses, the pace of its prevalence is surprising. In this background, we can use SMS, the most popular mobile communications services in the country for distance answering, taking full advantages and characteristics such as its low-cost, high-coverage, flexible and convenient features, designing and developing Web-based SMS System for Course Answering and applicating in distance answering are the importance issues in this research.First, according to the research background and literature review of m-learning and SMS used in education, the author settles down the research issues. Then relative key words and research methods are commentated. The authors fred out the demand of students, especial student of remote area, for SMS answering by questionnaire. Then, through carefully examination of the characteristics and key of technology of mobile learning, the practical plan under current situation is worked out. Moreover, I analyze the request of system in detail for the web-based SMS system for course answering, by combining the characteristics of web-based development and the thoughts of software engineering. I design modules of SMS system. The system uses ASP. NET which has the specialties of orient object and easy extendable and SQL Server 2000 as the development environment. In the part of application, choosing students who take the course in the School of Distance Learning in SCNU in 2006 autumn to use the web-base SMS system, and then author depicts the process of the application and the evaluation of the system in detail by interview research, evaluation research and analysis of the data in the system. |
