The development of the content based-retrieval is following the development computer technology .With the improvement of Artificial Intelligence, the rapid developing technique, people don't satisfy with the single retrieval, attempt to retrieve what they need with several methods, therefore, the technique of content based pictures,musical has appeared .But because of the complexity and diversity of sound ,the technique of content based musical retrieval is still in the development, and there is a few successful applicable examples at present .The paper introduces the development of content based retrieval technique, and its types and features, after the introduction above ,the paper analyzes the algorithm, finds out some accomplished examples home and abroad, illustrates the rapid development and future prospect, and solves the problems in the future development.There is a small trial, accomplishing a small survey system on the basis of above, but the function is only to retrieve the names of the songs, adopting the attempt-listening to verify if the songs we need .There is several shortcomings in the small system, with improvement and other techniques the future.
