Currently, there are lots of frameworks on the J2EE platform. Some of them are based on EJB while the others are based on POJO lightweight concepts. Actually, those lightweight frameworks based on POJOs can meet the needs in terms of agility, extensibility, integration and freedom in most cases, and they have been paid more attentions by developers. It is important to choose the right one among so many solutions for the application. This paper has six parts. The main purpose is to work as a reference for the framework chosen processes, and try to work out a general model of developing enterprise Java applications based on lightweight architecture. The first part talked about the aim, the significance of the research as well as the main content. The second part is about the characteristic and the development of lightweight frameworks, the different lightweight tiers developed from the classic J2EE three-tier architecture and their specific functions were deeply discussed. In the third part, lightweight solutions were provided to solve the typical problems of in time of developing the Web applications. In the fourth part, based on the previous research and study, it put forward an integrated lightweight solution, which utilized Hibernate, Spring, Spring Web Flow and JSF frameworks. After that, it applied this solution in a real project to showcase how to put lightweight solutions into practice. In the end, the author gave a conclusion and made suggestions and supplement. This paper mainly demonstrates the integration case of lightweight framework which is used in the Asset Management System. As proved by real practice, lightweight frameworks are the best choice of small and midsized projects. It serves a good example for those projects which involve lightweight frameworks.
