MIMO is the most popular field in wireless communication system. It can controlthe fading of radio channels by using antenna arrays and enlarge the capacity ofcommunication system without increasing the transmit power and bandwidth.Spatial correlation is one of the impairments practical Multiple-Input Multiple-Output(MIMO) wireless communication systems have to be coped with. Capacity increasespromised by MIMO systems mostly depend on the spatial correlation properties of theradio channels. This thesis investigates the connection between these properties and thechannel capacity. A new spatial correlation model is introduced for a circular array. Andthis model is used to analysis the channel capacity in three angel spread models, thoseare Uniform, Gaussian and Laplacian. The capacity is simulated in matlab. Theconclusion is that the spatial correlation model fits the analysis of circular array MIMOchannel capacity. And the model can make the calculation of capacity easierThis thesis introduces the development and survey of wireless communication andMIMO system. The circular array is also mentioned. The most important part is theanalysis of spatial correlation and it's impact of MIMO system capacity. In the end, thestudy perspective of MIMO and the development correlation model is discussed.
