Remote control target ship is an indispensable training equipment during the peaceful times, which provides real training conditions for the Navy and enhances the combat level. There are many mature theories and results on the conventional ship control, so these theories and methods were refered in this paper in order to research the movement'control of remote control target ship.Design of ship heading control system is an important research topic in the field of ship control. Many experts and scholars have been working on this research. In china, most ships steering autopilot are still making used of traditional PID control algorithm. Although the algorithm of PID control is simple and easy to implement, the PID steering autopilot system can't adapt to the need of navigation in modern times. The application of advanced control algorithms is hard to implement. To solve this problem, the paper makes the use of PID neural networks algorithm in the target ship heading control system, and makes improvements to its deficiencies. The simulation indicates that the result of this method is much more improved.Catastrophes are inevitable in the control system. During the movement of target ship, it is prone to catastrophes because of its purpose.The paper analyzes the phenomenon during the target ship navigation process by referring the theories and knowledge of csatastrophes. And then, try to modify the catastrophe by the state feedback catastrophe control law, which concluded that the the catastrophe is can't be modified.It proves that the target ship is in the critical stable condition when is navigating in the constant speed and direction.This also lay the foundation of catastrophe control in the use of target ship heading control system.
