"Modern" Problems In Exhibition Designing Of Modern Museums

Usually we regard the word"modern"as the abbreviation for the word"modernization", only but it's in different fields. However,"modern"appears as a concept of time, which is mostly related"modernism"and compared to"traditional", but not superficially and popularly compared to"ancient". As a matter of fact, we can hardly say what"modern"mean exactly. We can even say the meaning of the word"modern"people usually use is the combination of"modernization (related to high technology application and industrialization)"and"modernism"and"contemporary".Therefore, we can have the following conclusion: the word"modern"we use in the exhibition and design of museum has different meaning with different object.On the thought of museum exhibition and design in our country, modernization is not as strongly academic as we mentioned before, but it follows the key concepts of the design of modernism, which is at least different in the form of our traditional architecture and decoration. Unfortunately, the museums in our country mostly belong to the kind of history, which inevitably leads to conflicts between Chinese traditional content and western modern style. No one can show authentic evidences to conclude that which one of Chinese traditional style and western modern style is more suitable to the museums of our country ( especially for history museums), which leads to the problem that why we need"modern". This was just a problem of the style of designing, but in China, years of pubic voice make the modernization which should only in the industrialization of economy and manufacture influence every fields of social life. The concept of"realizing modernization"has been put deeply in the heart of people, which leads to the declination of blindly chasing modernization. Although many museums have carried out the financial policy of assuming sole responsibility for its profits or losses and the nature of them are still government departments, yet many leaders mention"modernization"every time they have a speech. At the tender of museum, it's not just the reason of style, but also modernizing for the appetite of leaders.
