How to create the star background is the key technology to realize the recognition and track, to seek guidance of missile, to emulate aircraft aviating scene, recognize the map of star sensor. The technology of modeling of celestial background is greatly valuable to military affairs, navigation and spaceflight, remote sensing and detection. As there is tremendous amount of catalog data, efficiency of modeling is the key problem in the process of modeling. This test does some researches on specific modeling algorithm and its use on star sensor.Firstly, this thesis improves according to catalog data and knowledge of spherical astronomy, the algorithm of modeling of celestial back- ground which is proposed by Miao yongwei, First, with a series of time conversion, the star position data of the catalogue epoch is converted into the position data of the given moment. Then, the star visional coordinate is converted into the observation coordinate, and the star visional position is gained in accordance with the observation at the given moment. Finally, the celestial background picture at an be drawn by the modeling knowledge.Secondly, this thesis offers a new method on star map recognition in star sensor. Based on the algorithm of match mode of string, then a nautical star database is established with 0 and 1 method. That is,1 and 0 represent star and background respectively without storing the actual value of pixel of the map. thus the star map recognition can be carried out by string matching algorithm.Finally, a system structure of celestial background modeling system is desi- gned and realized. The effectiveness of the algorithms proposed was validated through experiment.The algorithm put forward in the paper can reduce computing time for coordinates transition, and the method of star map recognition based on stringmatching improves the recognition rate under some condition.
