The relationship between the media and government is a very complicated issue. To address this issue, the author of this thesis adopts interdisciplinary research methods by citing Iraq War as a case study. With careful study of cases, data and literature, the thesis tries to offer a multi-perspective analysis of the watchdog function of American mass media in the era of anti-terrorism.This thesis will approach this issue from the following perspectives: the political and economic environment of American mass media; the news sources of American mass media and the information dissemination system of American government; media effect and the changing role of mass media in the new technological context. Hopefully, this research will help the readers have a comprehensive understanding of the watchdog function of American mass media in the era of anti-terrorism, thus, getting an insightful understanding of the freedom of the press in America. |
