As the popularization of Internet technology and the advancing of multimedia technology, people getting digital productions, such as image, audio and video, became much easier, and the ways also diversify. Therefore, how to protect the copyright and economic benefits of the digital production's author became a serious problem. Digital watermark technology emerged as the times require, and is becoming a hot technology to solve this problem.This paper first systemically summed up digital watermark technology, and then deeply analyzed existing image digital watermark algorithms. Aiming at the problem from two aspects of existing image digital watermark algorithms: the impact after image watermark embedded on host image is not low enough and don't achieve enough robustness, this paper proposed a new image digital watermark algorithm based on image compression technology. Firstly, the algorithm using image compression technology to compress the watermark image, and then all select the host image's DC components produced by DCT as the embedding positions, to embed the compressed watermark image information. The algorithm this paper proposed has the advantage of both met the transparency and robustness requirements of image digital watermark technique.The experimental result shows, in contrast with common middle frequency embedding algorithms, this paper proposed algorithm can get well transparency, and at the same time, facing kinds of common image attack, especially the JPEG lossy compression attack, it shows strong robustness.This paper proposed image digital watermark algorithm is simple and convenient to implement, and therefore has well practicality in the image digital production copyright protection area.
