With the rapid development of modern wireless communication technologies and internet,the popularity of notebook PCs and PDAs, because of its high agility and damage-resistance Ad Hoc wireless network increasingly has become the hot topic of research . This paper is under the National Nature Fund "Research on IP Network Topology Discovery and Analysis Based on Network Measurement" and "Research on the Key Technologies of Performance Measurement of the Next Generation Distributed Network". For the main problem of Ad Hoc wireless network, we focus on three issues in this thesis:1. Characteristic Analysis on Ad Hoc wireless network traffic. This paper tests the traffic characteristic for the wireless links of Ad Hoc wireless network and gives much analysis for the testing results. It not only sums up the variation rule of Hurst coefficient under different testing conditions, but also verifies the traffic in Ad Hoc wireless network exhibits obvious self-similarity.2. Traffic forecasting for Ad Hoc wireless network. We use the forecasting algorithm based on Fuzzy Neural Networks (FNN) which is used to forecasting the electric power load,climate,oil output, to forecast the traffic of Ad Hoc wireless network for the first time. We verify FNN has the advantages in traffic forecasting by data we have got. The traffic forecasting plays an important role in the following study and many aspects such as bandwidth allocation,traffic control, admission control, error control and so on.3. Research on different protocol of Ad Hoc wireless network. Firstly, this paper designs a kind of new simulation mode by setting parameters and simulation objects rationally, which makes the scope and objects more particular. This mode also improves the simulation accuracy and validity .Secondly, by analyzing the principle, advantages, disadvantages and situation , simulating and comparing the currently representive protocols we obtains the important performance figures of relevant routing protocol. The analysis results of performance metrics of network protocol at different conditions, will provide references for designing more scalable routing protocol. Finally, based on the broadcasting theories, we propose some advancement for the DSR routing protocol.
