Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), as one of the microwave remote sensing technologies, can work under any weather at any time. It can get the images of the earth surface with high resolution through Multi-Band and Multipolarization processing, and has a great prospect in both military and civil fields, such as applications in agriculture, hydrology, geology, forestry, oceanography, etc.Despite its wide use in the above fields, SAR imaging has a significant drawback. Since SAR is a coherent-imaging system, SAR images are degraded by speckle, which considerably affects the detection of useful details and the identification of certain objects. Therefore, it is important to suppress the speckle in SAR Images. This thesis is aimed towards a deep analysis and research of the technologies of speckle reduction in SAR images. There are many speckle reduction algorithms. They fall into following categories: (1) the multi-look processing, which enhances the signal-to-noise ratio at the cost of image resolution, (2) the locally statistical processing like the Lee filtering, the Guan filtering, the Frost filtering, and the Gamma MAP filtering, (3) the...
