Long range infrared dim point target detection is a key technology in many detection systems such as infrared surveillance and tracking system (IRST), precision guidance system, infrared early-warning system, wide field-of-view target surveillance system, satellite remote sensing system, and so on. Infrared small target detection is widely used in military field as well as civil field for its working day and night,passive detection,resist interference,strong hide,detecting camouflage target and so on. Therefore, studies on real-time dim point target detection algorithms with low SNR image sequences can result in longer combat range and response time, which is of great importance to detect enemy, plane and ship as early as possible.As for the current research on dim target is concerned, there are several main problems needing to tackle as following:(1) As for small target detection, the first and foremost problems are image preprocessing and background estimation. At present, most researchers use one algorithm either spatial or frequency filters to suppress background. However, when it comes to complicated background, which is always spatially varying too much, especially for sky target detection and sea target detection, single method can't meet all...
