The position of the modern war shows that the main pattern of the modern war is the association of several army services. So there is a necessity to provide a nice information system to realize communication between different armies without interruption. MIL-STD-188-220 protocol is one of the progenies. It is the mutual operation standard of foreign C4I system. Based on this, research and analysis of the data link layer for 220C in this paper. And this paper provided a reference for grasping the principle of the NAC for 220C protocol.At the beginning of the paper, firstly introduces the low three layers of OSI model opposite 220C protocol. In succession, expatiate the structure of frame and the work flow of the DLC for 220C, and provided an implement measure of the data link layer for 220C. This paper introduced access control mechanism and algorithm for the MAC protocols of MIL-STD-188-220C protocols. The working principle of NAC for 220C was particularly presented and its five algorithms (R-NAD,P-NAD,H-NAD,DAP-NAD and RE-NAD) was analyzed and compared. The paper describes the performance simulation of R-NAD and DAP-NAD algorithms, and gives the performance curves. Finally, R-NAD and DAP-NAD algorithms performance and characteristic are compared on the aspects of network throughput, end to end delay, nodes equity and realization cost. And the influence of different network timing model simulation parameters on network performance was discussed. At last makes a brief summary of this paper, and indicates the direction of the next step of work.
