This thesis based on the study of the composition, characteristics, development status and trend of VoIP Gateway, aim at the demand of access lines could be dynamic reorganization and soft-switch, combination the function and performance of specific product, bring forward a design of stackable VoIP Gateway system based on Infineon VINETIC-2CPE chips. Give the details of the VoIP Gateway's hardware design, device driver's debugging and modification, and the applications'design and debugging.There are two stacked designs of the VoIP Gateway, which realized in this project: stack chips in one VoIP Gateway card and multi-card stacking based on IP address. Targeting the first stacked design, we modified the VINETIC Chip's driver, to enable them supporting multi-block chips; stacking of the second, designed two self-defined communication protocols, first protocol is used to control the VoIP Gateway cards by management PC, second procotol is used to communicate between two VoIP Gateway cards. These two protocols made more convenient to management PC to control every piece of VoIP Gateway card, and VoIP Gateway cards could interact free.This VoIP Gateway terminal system can enable the users located in different physical locations for real-time voice communication via the ethernet. After testing, the VoIP Gateway system's design and engineering implementation of this thesis described have achieved the design requirements. Currently, this thesis has completed the Gateway device driver modify and debugging, successful tested the voice transmission based on RTP between Gateway Cards, accomplished the soft-switch function and API functions.
