Abstract/Summary:
Airborne early warning surveillance radar systems are limited in their ability to provide the required detection performance when there are srong clutter and interference. It is a hard work to suppress ground clutter effectively, and it is a key technology. As for ground moving targets, it is often covered by main clutter due to its low velocity. The clutter must be suppressed so as to detect the groung moving targets. Space-Time Adaptive Processing can adaptively compensate for the flatform motion, and it can make the performance of ground clutter suppression perfect. Thus, STAP can improve the performance of detecting targets of airborne early warning radars. In this dissertation, a temporal-spatial nonadaptive joint filtering processing, which bsaes on the characteristics of the clutter spectra for the phased array radar that is mounted on aircraft by side, is mainly studied to suppress clutter for airborne early warning radars. The computation load of this approach is small, and the performance for detecting slowly moving targets is better than that of the conventional cascaded nonadaptive processing. Finally simulation results validate the effectiveness of the methods presented in this dissertation.
