During the manufacturing of an aerocamera, one of the most important steps is to examine its performances. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a device that can test the camera on land. This paper is about this kind of device, and based on the system, motion control is studied including friction modeling and model-based friction compensation. And finally the research results are verified by the MATLab simulation.At the beginning of this paper, the development of the aerocamero is summed up, and with this development more and better function is required from the performance monitoring system. Then the structure of the performance monitoring system is given, on which the structure of this paper is based. Firstly, by analysing the requirements for the main control console system, it is determined that measurement and control subsystem be based on PC, and LabVIEW be used as a platform to develop measurement and control systems software. There is a advantage that doing it in this way can conveniently define the virtual instrument, and the virtual instrument's maintenance cost is relatively lower compared to the traditional ones. Another advantage is that its system expansibility is better.Secondly, after the study on the operation principle of the aerocamera, including data transmission format of the camera and principle of the image motion compensation system, the solutions are given. The task management system is designed to link the camera with the main control console system. The rate detect of three axis system is to monitor the condition of the image motion compensation system.Finally, during the design of the straightaway motion system, the disadvantages of the old design are pointed out and a new design is then given. Before the design, motion control with friction is studied, in the meantime some friction models are summed up with some compensation methods. In the designed of the motion control system model-based friction compensation method is employed with the feedforward control strategy aiming at the improvement of the tracking response.
