With the rapid development of information technology, many kinds of local area network which can access to the Internet were set up. Network plays more and more important role in people's life. Meanwhile, there are great demands of sharing files on network. The Peer-to-Peer computing mode has gained much attention. Many P2P applications for various purposes are booming. P2P directs the network computing from centralized model to distributed model. All nodes can set up P2P communication, which makes the behavior of sharing be developed to a higher level, and makes people join in the network more actively.Usually, people download the files which they need from Internet, but downloading file from Internet cost people much time and money because of the low transmission rate. In fact, there exits a huge number of file resource in the LAN. How to share so much resource between the users in LAN? This paper design a LAN File Sharing System Based on P2P to resolve this problem, in which all sharing files are managed and coordinated by an directory service server while the system providing p2p file transfer between peers. A PC can serve as the directory information server because of the small storage demand of directory information, so there is no extra need of hardware of total system. This paper briefly reviews the concept, development progress and the main characteristics of P2P computing. At first, it introduces the current situation of P2P computing research and then analyzes the key techniques of P2P computing. Then, it analyzes the three file sharing techniques which are used in most common. Chapter 4 explains the system architecture of LAN File Sharing System and reveals how it does work. Finally, the paper gives the way of realization of the key module in the File Sharing System.
