The traffic flow has space-time specialty, that is why should consider the space distribution of traffic flow while controlling the traffic flow by time. To reach this, not only the coordination among intersections, road segments and areas should be considered, but also the coordination between traffic signal control system and other systems. The limits in traditional software and communication technology induced that all the signaled control systems used have just controlled the traffic flow by time, and ignored the space distribution, thus, the traffic problem such as traffic jam, congestion is becoming worse and worse.The Agent technology and wireless sensor network technology are put into the traffic control system. This paper put forward a new method for city traffic signaled control. At first, the reason with why to coordinate in the traffic control system is discussed. Then, four kinds of wireless sensor network are discussed in order to resolve the coordination problem from four different levels in the traffic control system, in which traffic flow collection sensor network and traffic coordination control sensor network are emphasized: this paper has researched the node-locate arrangement problem and tested the real-time traffic flow collection platform on line. Also, how to select a suitable route protocol and how to control the network topology are analyzed, simultaneously some algorithms are put forward and simulated. Secondly, the traffic sensor network cooperation control framework based on mobile Agent is put forward, and a coordination model between traffic flow collection and traffic coordination sensor network was discussed, the coordination algorithm between traffic flow collection and traffic coordination control sensor network and in the traffic coordination control sensor network were researched. At last, cooperation algorithm is simulated in the traffic cooperation control sensor network. Compared with the fixed time signal control method, the coordination control method could reduce the vehicle travel time mostly.Through using the wireless sensor network to connect entities in traffic control system and the mobile Agent technology to communicate with all kinds of sensor nodes, this paper gives a new method for new generation city traffic control system and makes a constructive contribution to other fields adopting wireless sensor network technology.
