The control system has become an important part of the large-scale thermal power plants, its reliability and performance play a critical role in reliability and economy of the entire industrial process. In this paper, a full-order unknown input observer for fault diagnosis approach to the actuator of boiler control system is proposed. The residual is designed to be insensitive to unknown disturbances, whilst sensitive to faults. Simulation results show the efficiency of this method. For fault diagnosis of the equipment in power plant, a scheme combined fuzzy rules with binary particle swarm optimization is presented. Set of the fuzzy rules with certainty is produced by the object's data. The set is simplified by binary particle swarm optimization. Therefore, the efficiency of fault diagnosis is improved. The faults in a turbine unit are diagnosed with the aid of the presented method. Simulation result shows that the proposed method is featured by swiftness, accuracy and ease of practical application.
