Bar Code is one method to express information. This technology has been used in many different kind fields. Different bar codes have so many differences that they can not be replaced by one bar code in application. Therefore, a new bar code researched in this thesis is necessary for our life if it can be used in different fields. This new bar code is 1.5Dimensional Bar Code. It has advantages of 1D and 2D bar code. It is the ideal bar code for different fields as a uniform bar code.1.5D bar code is a totally new bar code. It is based on 1D bar code, adding four kinds declined lines and six kind triangles in thin and thick lines. Consequently, 1.5D bar code has a huge ability to express information. It does not need data base, can be recognized easily and implemented simply.On the background of 1D and 2D bar codes, writer researched 1.5D bar code deeply. During this research, writer has completed generation and reorganization of 1.5D bar code. In generation process, information has been changed into 1.5D bar code by using binary data. In recognized process, 1.5D bar code picture is recognized making use of Gabor Transform. After these, writer participated in designing a bar code credit system on the base of 1.5D bar code. They have finished the whole lab system frames. This system includes three modules, bar code generation module, bar code recognized module and bar code display module. Fortunately, this system has gained a satisfactory result in lab test.The content of the thesis can be described as following:Firstly, the thesis describes 1D bar code and 2D bar code, including coding method, recognizing method, and several kinds of main bar codes. Secondly, the thesis introduces 1.5D bar code in detail, as well as coding regulation, advantages and future application. Thirdly, the thesis describes how to generate a 1.5D bar code, including generating algorithm and display result. Fourth, the thesis recommends colleting and recognizing method of 1.5D bar code with Gabor transform. Finally, the thesis introduces a system based on 1.5D bar code, consist of system frames, generating module, recognizing module, display module and the possible application in the future.
