To solve object modeling process of editing shapes, often require surface deformation and editing. Free-form deformation, Laplacian editing, skeleton extraction and the skeleton-based surface deformation techniques are studied for the needs of this problem.By comparing many free-form deformation technologies, the paper uses a simple and intuitive realization of the free-form deformation method. Through interactive adjustment of parameters, we can give the model mesh free-form deformation easily. Experiments have proved that the method of interaction and the efficiency of algorithms is an enormous advantage. In this paper, the Laplacian editing algorithm can carry information about the local shape of the surface, the size and orientation of local details. The use of the technology, we developed some relevant editing techniques, such as silhouette sketching deformation. By choosing the mesh silhouette of the regional and sketching the 2D mesh silhouette, then adjust the silhouette vertices. The adjustment will serve as the Laplacian editing constraints, followed by solving linear systems to get the deformed mesh. We use the Voronoi diagram to extracting skeleton, and use the qhull or GPU method to compute Voronoi diagram for surface, then we get a Voronoi vertices, remove the outer vertices of surface from them. A point corresponding to a mesh vertex is computed as the arithmetic mean of the remaining Voronoi vertices of the Voronoi region containing the mesh vertex. Finally the obtained set of the skeleton vertices is equipped with the connectivity of the original mesh. Given a grid model, get its skeleton extraction, and then do free-form deformation or Laplacian editing on the skeleton mesh, finally, the reconstruction of the deformated skeleton mesh to the original mesh is the main idea of this paper.The algorithms in this paper are proved practical and efficient in our prototype system.
