With the rapid development and ripeness worldwide of Internet, web service is subdivided further and develops toward personalized service. On the demand that service is becoming multiple increasingly and personalized service should be provided to customers, Service Selection Gateway emerges as the times require.The subject of this paper comes from the study of Service Selection Gateway. In the design of the Service Selection Gateway, IP packet classification algorithm is one of the key factors which affect the whole system performance of Service Selection Gateway. The general design of it is introduced and the former classic algorithms are analyzed in this paper. Aiming at the detail requirement of IP packet classification algorithm in service selection gateway and the characteristics of application environment, its rule base is analyzed and predigested, also the characteristics of data packet in Service Selection Gateway are analyzed. On the basis of which, the paper designs two kinds of grading lookup algorithms respectively for entrance classification module and exit classification module. Theoretical performance analysis is made to both of the algorithms. The paper presents the realization scheme for classification modules in Linux operation system and discusses the technology difficulties. Simulation is made to the two classification algorithms under Linux environment.
