This paper mainly described L-band planar array antenna, which includes the design of the element of antenna array, the design of feeder system, the synthesis of antenna array pattern and the effects of the aperture amplitude and the phase error on the antenna far-field pattern.A printed dipole is an element of planar antenna array for its simple structure and easily fabricated. Its structure is optimized for wider bandwidth.Feeder system of planar antenna array is designed and debugged in this paper, and it is 24way power divider. It has air strip-line structure for low loss; its amplitude and phase are very accurate. This paper reports the miniaturization of feeding system for the large-scale array antenna, which has the double-layer strip-line structure. The performance of the pattern of planar antenna array is discussed in this paper. A novel method for the synthesis of shaped-beam radiation pattern using genetic algorithm is presented in this paper, and by this method, the amplitude and phase of shaped beam pattern on the vertical are calculated; The amplitude and phase of low side-lobe pattern (Sll=-40dB) on the horizontal are synthesized using the Taylor distribution. This paper also analyzes the deformation of the pattern caused by the amplitude and phase error, and estimated the permissible deviation of the amplitude and phase of the planar array.
