Congestion control for Ad Hoc network is one of the most active fields in Ad Hoc network. Congestion control mechanism for Ad Hoc network is studied in depth in this paper. Firstly, the problems met in current congestion control for Ad Hoc network are discussed, exsisting wireless TCP representative congestion control mechanisms and algorithms are summarized, and their advantages and disadvantages are pointed out. Secondly, due to the invalidation of traditional congestion detection indication in Ad Hoc network, the paper proposes dMAC - a new congestion detection indication which is applicable for Ad Hoc network, and its validation is presented by simulations. Thirdly, the paper gives emphasis to congestion control for stream media applications, and lists the limitation of TFRC in Ad Hoc network. Then, from the perspective of TFRC, combining the congestion detection indication of dMAC, the paper presents a modified algorithm called TFRC-VLPN, and validates its performances by simulations.
